چکیده

Suppressors of Cytokine Signaling (SOCS) family members are inhibitors of cytokine signaling pathways. Emerging evidence suggests the involvement of SOCS1 and SOCS3 in a variety of diseases, including allergy, autoimmune diseases, and inflammation. This study aimed to investigate the expression of SOCS1 and SOCS3 in the development of Henoch-Schoenlein Purpura (HSP) in children. Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMC) were isolated from children with HSP (HSP group, n=20) and healthy children (control group, n=15). The mRNA and protein levels of SOCS1 and SOCS3 in PMBC were detected by real time Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) and Western bot analysis. The results showed that the mRNA and protein levels of SOCS1/3 were upregulated in HSP group compared to control group (P<0.01). These data demonstrate that SOCS1 and SOCS3 are upregulated in children with HSP, and suggest that SOCS1 and SOCS3 are involved in the pathogenesis of HSP.

Protein-losing enteropathy associated with Henoch-Schönlein purpura

The gastrointestinal manifestations of Henoch-Schönlein purpura include abdominal pain, gastrointestinal bleeding, intussusception, and perforation. Protein-losing enteropathy is rarely associated with Henoch-Schönlein purpura. Two pediatric patients with Henoch-Schönlein purpura who developed protein-losing enteropathy are reported. Tc-99m human serum albumin scintigraphy is useful in the dete...

An atypical case of Henoch-Shonlein purpura in a young patient: treatment of the skin lesions with hyaluronic acid-based dressings.

Henoch-Shönlein purpura (HSP) is an acute, self-limited, systemic, small vessel vasculitis, that induces skin lesions, arthritis and abdominal pain. Palpable purpura is the most common manifestation in pediatric patients with HSP. We present an atypical case of HSP in a young patient and report successful treatment of the atypical skin lesions, while avoiding surgery.
